It’s just about harvest time in the corn and bean fields a little west of me.
The sun lowers in the southern sky and the days get shorter. Harvest time comes quickly and sometimes dramatically when this starts to happen near the end of August.
We suddenly go from the dark, lush greens of summer to yellow to brown. All in the span of a few short weeks.
Then it’s harvest time.
Sunsets during harvest time take on a distinct gold hue as all the harvest dust drifts along on the prevailing winds with some of it coming from Iowa and beyond.
And then one day soon this will all be gone too.
Then we wait for winter.
